Job description
General Summary:
A clothing pattern maker draws outlines of clothing pieces onto tracing paper and cuts out the pieces.
Broad Responsibilities:
studies drawings, written instructions or samples of designs of garments
draws the outline of the clothing pieces by adapting an existing pattern, copying and existing garment or by drafting a new one may use a computer to produce a pattern
specifies sewing instructions cuts out the pattern by hand or prints out a copy using a computer may make sample garments and be involved in fitting to test the patterns
makes the necessary changes adapts patterns for different sizes.
